According to a recent CNN Health article, Dawn Gouge, an associate professor of urban entomology at the University of Arizona, believes that if pest control companies are monitoring for bed bugs, they should rely on black monitors such as the SenSci BlackOut.

“The most valuable thing from this study is to say definitively, if we are monitoring for these bugs, we tend to rely on black or white traps. … I am convinced I should be using the black ones” because the insects might avoid the lighter colors, Gouge said.

Gouge went on to explain that although the monitors may not be enough to end a bed bug infestation, they can be very helpful for detecting bed bugs in a given environment.
